Cucumber is a traditional salad vegetable which can be produced either in a glasshouse or outdoors. the long green types found in the shops can only be grown with the aid of a heated glasshouse but the other forms are quite at home in the vegetable plot or produced earlier using cloches, cold frames or polytunnels.

An old favourite, Femspot F1 is an early cropping, all female cucumber of superb quality, producing long, bitter free, ribbed cucumbers. These plants need heat to get the best results and are better suited to indoor growing in a greenhouse.
