10 Easy Halloween Costume Ideas From Your Cupboard

Okay, so its 31st October 2023 and you realise its Halloween and there’s a party tonight or you’ve promised your kids you will take them trick or treating. Now what? We’ve derived a list of 10 ideas to quickly throw some outfits together for you or your kids, straight out of the closet. Our top tip, make this your own or come down to RockBottom Northampton to grab any last-minute supplies.
Here’s 10 easy Halloween costumes to inspire you to rummage through your cupboards and find your creativity:
1. Classic Ghost: White bedsheet (or pillow case for your little one) with eye holes cut out. Add chains, a bit of grey makeup for an eerie touch
2. Mummy: Old white sheets or torn strips of cloth. Wrap them around your body, leaving gaps for eyes, and secure with safety pins or tape
3. Nerd/Geek: Thick-rimmed glasses, High-waisted pants or skirt, with a tucked-in shirt & tie. Add suspenders (if you have them).
4. Zombie: Old, torn clothing. Apply makeup or face paint to create a decaying, undead look. Rip and stain your clothes for added effect
5. Crazy Cat Lady: Bathrobe or oversized sweater. Attach stuffed cats (or cut outs) to the clothing. Add a few cat plush toys as props
6. 80s Aerobics Instructor: Brightly coloured leotard or leggings Headband, leg warmers, and high-tops
7. Scarecrow: Plaid shirt, overalls, and a straw hat. Use makeup to create stitched features on your face.
8. Fortune Teller Flowy, colourful clothing. Add scarves, jewellery, and a crystal ball (a clear glass or plastic orb).
9. Pirate: Striped shirt, black pants, and a red sash or belt. Make a makeshift eyepatch from fabric or paper.
10. Your favourite character that has a distinct style/look but is easy to create: Couples costume of Sheldon & Amy, Matilda, Harry Potter or Jedi
